Karra-Lee Gerrits joined the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development in 1999 as a Trade Commissioner in the Foreign Service. Between 2003 and 2005, she served as Trade Commissioner and Second Secretary at the Canadian Embassy to Venezuela and from 2005 to 2008 as Trade Commissioner and First Secretary at the Canadian Embassy to Mexico. Upon returning to Canada, she was a Deputy Director in the Trade Commissioner Service Renewal Division following which she served from 2011 to 2014 as Senior Trade Commissioner and Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy to the Philippines. She was appointed Senior Trade Commissioner and Counsellor for the Innovation, Life and Agri-Food sectors at the Embassy of Canada to Japan in August of 2015. Ms. Gerrits received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alberta’s School of Business with a specialization in Marketing in 1999. She is originally from Grande Prairie, Alberta but now calls Ottawa home.

I am looking forward to hearing participants’ perspectives on the future of agritech in Japan, Asia and across the world to see how we can explore collaboration in advancing agritech together.
